Moldova’s Parliament has approved a new law enabling polygraph testing for military personnel and applicants for contract-based service. This measure is aimed at assessing individuals with access to highly sensitive information.
Under the law, the Ministry of Defense is authorized to conduct polygraph tests for candidates applying for military roles and for active service members. This legislative proposal was initially introduced during the summer of 2024.
Parliament highlighted that such practices are common in various countries to safeguard sensitive information handled by military personnel.
In addition to polygraph testing, the law introduces stricter requirements for joining contract-based military service. Applicants must now provide a property declaration and a personal interest declaration as part of the application process.
