Half of Americans favor a speedy end to the war in Ukraine – poll

According to a survey conducted by Gallup, 50% of Americans believe the Russia-Ukraine conflict should be ended as soon as possible, even if it means Ukraine will not regain all its territories.

In comparison, only 31% of respondents held this view in the summer of 2022.

At the same time, 48% of those surveyed support continuing to aid Ukraine in its efforts to reclaim lost lands. This figure has dropped from 66% over the past two years.

The survey results highlight a shift in public opinion, as previously, a majority of Americans supported Ukraine’s fight until complete victory, Gallup notes in its publication.

The study also revealed that 37% of respondents think the United States is providing “too much” aid to Ukraine. Those who consider the level of support adequate or insufficient accounted for 31% and 30%, respectively.

Additionally, the survey found that more Republicans than Democrats favor a swift end to the war.
