Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban stated that the war in Ukraine will end in 2025, noting that this could happen either through peace negotiations or as a result of the complete defeat of one of the sides.
Orban shared his opinion in an interview with the Hungarian publication Magyar Nemzet. According to him, in 2025, “the politics of war will give way to the politics of peace,” and the peaceful years will lead to the renewal of significant economic successes.
Orban emphasized that the end of the war will allow Europe to restore the economic growth that the conflict has disrupted. His statement is supported by a recent report from the International Monetary Fund (IMF), which forecasts the war’s end by the end of 2025, and at the latest, by mid-2026.
Support for the idea of peace negotiations is also expressed by U.S. President-elect Donald Trump, who has close ties with Orban. Trump considers ending the conflict as soon as possible through negotiations one of his top priorities. The new U.S. president has promised to actively address the issue of conflict resolution immediately after his inauguration.
