On the evening before Christmas, Polish fire and rescue services reported 871 emergency calls, many involving serious incidents, including fatal ones.
According to RMF24, 224 of the calls were related to fires, 120 of which occurred in residential buildings. In 55 cases, the fires were caused by the accumulation of soot in chimneys. These incidents resulted in two fatalities and left five others injured.
Rescuers also recorded more than 20 suspected cases of carbon monoxide poisoning. A total of 27 people were affected, and three died, including two children. Additionally, 114 calls were linked to road traffic accidents.
