Britain has unveiled a £61 million ($76 million) funding package to support humanitarian efforts in the Middle East, Africa, and Asia as part of its “Plan for Change.”
The initiative targets pressing global challenges such as migration flows, the climate crisis, and poverty. The aid will provide life-saving support to thousands of vulnerable people affected by acute humanitarian crises worldwide.
- Middle East: £22 million has been earmarked to address the escalating crisis in the region.
- Africa and Asia: £34 million will target high humanitarian needs in countries including Burkina Faso, Mali, Niger, the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), Somalia, Myanmar, and Bangladesh.
- Tropical Cyclone Freddy: Up to £5 million will be allocated to support recovery efforts in Mozambique.
- World Food Programme: An additional £5 million will go to the United Nations World Food Programme to combat food insecurity.
These funds aim to expand existing aid programs and offer critical relief to those impacted by displacement, conflict, and natural disasters.
