A large-scale farmers’ protest is taking place in Warsaw and is expected to last until late evening.
According to Polsat News, the city’s police have warned about possible road closures, while the municipal transport authority has adjusted public transport schedules.
The protest began at 2:00 PM near the European Commission’s representation. Around 4:00 PM, participants plan to march through Świętokrzyska, Nowy Świat, Krakowskie Przedmieście, Miodowa, and Senatorska streets, ending at the intersection with Nowy Przejazd Street. The protest activities are scheduled to conclude at 11:00 PM.
The demonstration is being held under the slogan “5xSTOP!” and opposes the free trade agreement with Latin America, the “Green Deal,” the import of agricultural products from Ukraine, the “destruction of Polish forests and hunting,” and the “decline of the Polish economy.”
Warsaw police have warned drivers about potential traffic disruptions and reminded them that tractors and slow-moving vehicles are banned from entering the city. Violators face inspections and fines.
On December 3, 2024, Polish farmers held similar protests in several cities. In November, farmers protested in Medyka, near the Ukrainian border, demanding the preservation of the 2023 agricultural tax rate and expressing concerns over the European Union’s trade agreement with South American Mercosur bloc countries.
