Elon Musk and Alice Weidel, the leader of Germany’s AfD party, will join forces for a live discussion on Musk’s platform, X, scheduled for January 9.
German state media has barred Weidel from taking place in the country’s debates, even though she leads the second-largest party in Germany.
The talk, set for 7:00 p.m., will take place in an X-Space, which is Musk’s format for live chats. Weidel’s spokesman, Daniel Tapp, confirmed this public discussion, adding that the event will be open to all listeners. Weidel herself later posted on X, expressing excitement for the conversation: “We look forward to the conversation and above all to many listeners!”
Just days after this live talk, Weidel is set to be officially nominated as the AfD’s candidate for Chancellor at their party congress in Riesa. The key topics for the Musk-Weidel conversation will revolve around the freedom of expression and the AfD’s vision for a sustainable Germany, according to Tapp.
