Six people lost their lives in an explosion at a restaurant in the city of Most, Czech Republic, caused by a propane-butane cylinder.
According to Reuters, citing the Czech Fire and Rescue Service, the tragedy occurred on the evening of Saturday, January 11. The explosion injured eight people, six could not be saved, and about 30 people were evacuated from the restaurant and nearby buildings.
Witnesses reported that the fire was caused by a heater tipping over, which led to ignition. Czech Interior Minister Vít Rakušan confirmed that the incident was caused by the fall of a propane-butane heater installed on the restaurant’s terrace. Firefighters rescued one seriously injured patron who had been trapped in the bathroom.
Earlier, in December, a powerful explosion in a residential building in the Tarwekamp area of The Hague, Netherlands, claimed the lives of six people. Additionally, an explosion in an apartment building in Znojmo, southern Czech Republic, in mid-December injured eight people.
