Future U.S. vice president proposes agreement with Greenland

J.D. Vance, the future vice president in Donald Trump’s administration, stated that the United States does not need to use military force in Greenland. Instead, he believes it is possible to reach an agreement with the island.

Vance reminded that the U.S. already has a military presence in Greenland and noted that Donald Trump’s son recently visited the island. According to him, local residents who met with the American delegation expressed a desire to independently develop the region’s natural resources. Vance also criticized Denmark, claiming that Danish authorities do not pay enough attention to Greenland’s security.

The politician believes this provides the U.S. with an opportunity to take the initiative in ensuring security and developing Greenland’s resources.

Donald Trump is a master dealmaker, and I am confident that a mutually beneficial solution can be found in Greenland, Vance stated.

Previously, Donald Trump did not rule out the possibility of using military or economic levers to strengthen control over Greenland, calling the issue strategically important for U.S. national security. However, Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen reminded that Greenland belongs to its inhabitants. Meanwhile, Greenland’s Prime Minister Múte Bourup Egede stated that the island is striving for independence, not subordination to either the U.S. or Denmark.
