Hungarian Foreign Minister Péter Szijjártó has strongly criticized any actions that jeopardize energy security, calling them “an assault on sovereignty.”
His comments came after reports from Moscow regarding a Ukrainian airstrike targeting key infrastructure for the “Turkish Stream” gas pipeline.
In a post on Facebook, Szijjártó expressed his concerns over the alleged attack, emphasizing the importance of the pipeline for Hungary and Central Europe’s natural gas supply.
“We expect the security and operability of this transport route to be respected by all. Energy security is a matter of sovereignty, so any actions that threaten the security of our energy supply must be regarded as an assault on sovereignty,” he stated.
The Russian Ministry of Defense claimed that its military had repelled the Ukrainian strike, but Ukraine has not yet commented on the reports.
