In five provinces of Turkey, security forces carried out anti-terrorism operations and arrested suspects with alleged connections to the FETÖ and ISIS organizations.
According to journalists, 19 suspects were detained during an operation targeting FETÖ. Simultaneous operations were conducted at addresses in Istanbul, Sivas, Zonguldak, Kocaeli, and Ankara.
It was reported that during the searches at these addresses, numerous digital materials and documentation were seized, proving cooperation with FETÖ.
The suspects were then taken to the police station for further procedural actions.
It is known that Turkish authorities accuse FETÖ and its leader, Fethullah Gülen, who was in voluntary exile in the United States, of orchestrating the coup attempt on July 15, 2016. Gülen passed away in the U.S. in October at the age of 83.
Turkish authorities believe that the military coup was inspired by Gülen and organized by the mid-level officers of the Turkish military. During the coup attempt, soldiers seized combat aircraft, helicopters, and tanks, and tried to take control of key government institutions. Approximately 250 people were killed, and hundreds more were injured.
