Advisors to U.S. President-elect Donald Trump believe that the process of resolving the conflict in Ukraine could take months or even longer, according to Reuters.
According to two of Trump’s aides who discussed the situation in Ukraine with him, the promises to end the conflict on the first day of his presidency were misguided. They view these statements as a combination of election rhetoric and an inadequate assessment of the complexity of the issue.
Earlier, Trump expressed hope for quick negotiations with Russian President Vladimir Putin, which could take place within a few months. He also repeatedly claimed that he could resolve the conflict in Ukraine in one day. However, in Russia, it is believed that this is too simplistic an approach for such a complex issue.
