Tino Chrupalla, a leader of the right-wing Alternative for Germany (AfD) party, is set to attend Donald Trump’s inauguration as the 47th President of the United States.
Chrupalla shared that his visit is being made at the invitation of Republican circles in Washington.
“Attending the inauguration of President Donald Trump once again demonstrates that we are pursuing our interest-oriented policies. This presidency will change the world for the better,” Chrupalla stated.
He emphasized that Germany, under the leadership of Alice Weidel as their candidate for chancellor, aims to be a strong European partner.
“Germany must maintain good and peaceful relations with all countries,” Chrupalla said.
Other AfD representatives are also expected to attend the event. However, Alice Weidel herself will not be present. Her press secretary explained that the timing conflicts with the party’s preparations for Germany’s federal election campaign.
