Israel has accused the terrorist group Hamas of violating the terms of the agreements and creating a crisis situation at the last minute, hindering the conclusion of a ceasefire.
This statement was made in a message from the Prime Minister, which was published in both English and Hebrew. The Prime Minister’s office stated that Hamas had at the last moment rejected part of the agreements, which became an obstacle to signing the ceasefire deal. It was also added that the Israeli cabinet would not meet until the mediators confirm that Hamas has accepted all the conditions of the agreement.
In response, Hamas representatives stated that the movement remains committed to the ceasefire agreement in Gaza. This information was announced by the group’s spokesperson Izzat al-Rishq, citing Reuters.
On January 15, it was reported that an agreement had been reached between Israel and Hamas for a ceasefire and the release of hostages. The agreement includes six weeks of ceasefire, the gradual withdrawal of Israeli forces from Gaza, and the release of hostages held by Hamas in exchange for Palestinian prisoners.
