Two Ukrainians lost in the mountains of Romania

Romanian rescuers have launched a search operation after two Ukrainian citizens reported getting lost in the mountains of Maramureș, located in eastern Romania.

The two Ukrainians contacted Romanian rescuers through an acquaintance in Germany, who was asked to call the emergency services. They reported being unable to move, exhausted after several days and nights in the mountains, cold, and without food or water.

“We don’t know their exact location, only vague information about how they entered Romania,” the rescuers stated.

They added that they, along with Romania’s border police, would try to locate the two Ukrainians and bring them to a safe place.

This is not the first time that Ukrainians have gone missing in Romania’s mountains. A month ago, Romanian rescuers received a distress call from three Ukrainian citizens who were in one of the most difficult areas of the Romanian part of the Marmaros Mountains. They were found after 24 hours.
