The Ministries of Economic Affairs and Agriculture in the Netherlands were temporarily evacuated on the morning of January 16 following reports of a security threat involving a man who had fled a nearby courtroom.
The suspect had prematurely exited the courtroom, where he was awaiting a verdict, and discreetly entered one of the ministry buildings alongside an employee. Prosecution staff tracked the man to the premises, prompting ministry security to assess him as a potential danger. The evacuation alarm was activated, leading to the clearance of all employees from the buildings.
Surveillance footage later confirmed that the man had already exited the premises. Following this confirmation, employees were allowed to return to their workstations.
The suspect subsequently returned to court and now faces the possibility of additional charges for disturbing public order during the incident.
