In California, a fire has broken out at one of the largest battery storage power plants in the world, located in the city of Moss Landing, which contains tens of thousands of lithium batteries.
According to the Monterey County Department, firefighting operations are underway, with North County fire services responding to the blaze. An evacuation has been declared in eight districts of the county, and residents are strongly advised to close windows and turn off ventilation systems. It is reported that the Moss Landing facility is owned by Vistra Energy and is one of the largest lithium battery storage centers.
This incident comes amid large-scale wildfires in California, which have been raging since January 7. The fire in Los Angeles has already spread over 16,000 hectares, and at least 25 people have died as a result of the fires. About 105,000 people have been evacuated, and more than 12,300 structures, including celebrities’ homes, have been destroyed. As a result, evacuation orders have also been issued for nearby areas, with over 1,500 people fleeing their homes.
