Deputy Speaker of Slovakia’s Parliament, Tibor Gašpar, has acknowledged the possibility of the country’s exit from the European Union but called it an extreme measure.
According to him, the ruling Smer party does not currently prioritize or aim for withdrawal from the EU or NATO. However, he believes that both organizations “evolve over time” and “should leave the door open for situations where we might consider an extreme decision.”
“At the moment, Smer does not prioritize or aim for withdrawal from the EU or NATO, but both organizations evolve over time, potentially changing some of the fundamental issues or principles that existed when we joined them. Therefore, the door should remain open for a situation where we might consider an extreme decision, such as leaving the EU,” said Gašpar.
