Earthquake of magnitude 5.2 strikes Turkey

On Wednesday, January 22, a 5.2 magnitude earthquake hit off the coast of the Aivazik district in the Çanakkale province of Turkey.

The Disaster and Emergency Management Authority (AFAD) reported the event.

According to AFAD, the epicenter was in the Aivazik area. The earthquake occurred at 11:38 PM local time, with the epicenter located at a depth of 8.65 km.

In mid-October, an earthquake also struck the Malatya province in eastern Turkey.

On December 22, a 4.7 magnitude earthquake occurred off the coast of the Datça district in the southwestern province of Muğla.
