Three fans of the Spanish club “Real Sociedad” were stabbed in the center of Rome during a clash with fans of the Italian “Lazio” ahead of the Europa League match on January 23 between the two teams.
According to the police, about 70 Spanish fans were attacked by 80 Lazio supporters in the Colosseum area in Rome around 11:00 PM on January 22. The attackers used various objects, including knives, hammers, sticks, batons, wrenches, and chains. A law enforcement representative reported that the attackers fled before the police arrived.
Earlier, on November 7, unrest related to a match involving an Israeli football team also occurred in Amsterdam. Despite a heavy police presence and a ban on pro-Palestinian demonstrations near the stadium, attacks on Israeli fans took place in the city after the match. It was later reported that around 50 people were arrested, but most arrests occurred after the attacks, not during them.
