A residential building collapsed in Turkey: at least five people were injured

On January 24, Friday, a search and rescue operation was conducted in central Turkey after the collapse of a four-story building, which housed at least five people.

According to Governor Ibrahim Akin, as reported by AP, the cause of the collapse in the city of Konya was unknown at the time of the incident. Two people were pulled from the rubble with injuries. Later, the governor reported that five members of a family were likely trapped under the debris. Emergency teams were sent to the scene, using specialized devices to search for possible survivors.

The incident occurred just three days after a fire broke out at a 12-story hotel in a ski resort in northwestern Turkey, resulting in 79 injuries and 14 fatalities.

As part of the investigation into the fire, 11 people were detained, including the deputy mayor of the Bolu province, the head of the municipal fire service, as well as the hotel’s owners and managers.
