Automaker Audi is considering postponing the planned salary increase for 55,000 employees in Germany.
According to Focus magazine, the management of the Ingolstadt and Neckarsulm plants is negotiating with employees about a temporary suspension of wage indexation.
Previously, it was decided to raise salaries by 2% starting April 1, 2025, followed by a 3.1% increase in April 2026. However, Audi now wants to delay these raises and reduce bonus payments for overtime work. The company cites the deteriorating economic situation as the reason for this initiative.
The automaker is facing significant challenges: in 2023, global sales fell by 12%, while sales in Germany dropped by 21%. The decline has been particularly sharp in China, which remains a key market for Audi.
