Swedish Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson believes that the recent wave of violent crimes in the country is linked to immigration.
Kristersson argues that immigration policies must remain strict to curb the surge in violence in Sweden.
“There has been a very high level of immigration to Sweden for a very long time, and now we have significantly tightened measures against it; it must remain very strict. If new people keep coming and committing new crimes, we will have no chance of handling this,” he added.
As an example, he mentioned the activities of gang groups in Turkey, with which Sweden has established cooperation to combat crime.
“The more criminals we can stop here in Sweden, the less influence those who lead them from abroad will have… Our intelligence and security services are working intensively to track these people down,” the Swedish prime minister said.
In January alone, Sweden recorded more than 30 explosions and several fatal shootings linked to gang violence, often involving minors.
