U.S. President Donald Trump has announced his intention to introduce new tariffs on goods from the European Union, according to the BBC.
He stated that European countries restrict access to American products in their markets, while the U.S. accepts a large volume of European goods.
They don’t take our cars, they don’t take our agricultural products. They take almost nothing, while we take everything—millions of cars, a huge amount of food and agricultural products, Trump told reporters.
He also emphasized that, in his view, the U.S. has been “robbed by almost every country in the world.” The introduction of new tariffs is expected to escalate trade tensions between the U.S. and the EU.
