Jens Stoltenberg, the former NATO secretary general, has stepped down as co-chair of the Bilderberg Group’s steering committee after being appointed Norway’s new finance minister.
Stoltenberg had expressed excitement about his role with the influential globalist group in December, highlighting the opportunity to strengthen ties between Europe and the U.S. at events like the Munich Security Conference. However, the Norwegian government deemed it inappropriate for him to hold both positions.
In a statement, Stoltenberg confirmed his resignation from Bilderberg, citing his new ministerial role. He added that he felt “deeply honored” to help Norway during this critical time.
Stoltenberg’s appointment as finance minister comes after the collapse of Norway’s government, triggered by the Senter Party’s decision to exit due to disagreements over the EU’s energy policies. While Stoltenberg won’t handle foreign policy, some critics worry his return to politics could fuel further tensions, particularly in light of his strong stance on escalating the war in Ukraine, where he’s been a key advocate for continued support.
Stoltenberg previously led Norway’s Labor Party and served as prime minister before his NATO tenure.
