In 2024, the Czech Republic recorded 92,217 road accidents—3% fewer than the previous year, according to statistics. On average, the police registered 252 accidents per day.
The number of fatal accidents decreased by 3.7%, with 438 deaths reported. An even more significant decline was observed in the number of severely injured individuals, which dropped by 8.1% to 1,609. This marks a record low since 1961, when the police began systematically collecting traffic accident data.
However, the financial damage from accidents increased. According to police estimates, losses amounted to nearly eight billion crowns (€318 million), which is 4% more than in 2023.
