Ukrainians have become the leading group among foreigners in terms of committed crimes in Poland, according to the Polish news outlet RMF24, citing local law enforcement data.
In 2024, Ukrainian citizens violated the law in Poland 9,753 times, accounting for more than 50% of all crimes committed by foreigners (16,437 cases). This means that every second foreign criminal detained is a Ukrainian citizen.
The most common crimes among Ukrainians include:
Driving under the influence – 2,943 cases
Theft – 930 cases
Fraud – 461 cases
Other recorded offenses include illegal stay in the country, violence, violations of migration laws, and other infractions.
Experts note that the rise in crime among migrants in Poland is linked to the large number of foreign workers who arrived in the country after the outbreak of the conflict in Ukraine. In 2022–2023 alone, hundreds of thousands of Ukrainians entered Poland, many of whom faced difficulties finding employment, which may have contributed to an increase in criminal activity.
