Housing and utility costs in Germany are rising rapidly. According to a study by the real estate network Remax, nearly half of the population has experienced a significant increase in living expenses over the past year.
For 23% of respondents, payments have risen by 30%, while 22% have reported an increase of up to 10%. The rise in electricity and heating costs has been particularly noticeable—one in five residents is already struggling to afford these expenses. Another 33% have to cut back on other necessities to cover their utility bills.
As a result, interest in energy-efficient solutions is growing. According to experts, 20% of citizens are considering switching to eco-friendly systems. Over the next five years, 20% plan to install heat pumps, while 34% intend to invest in solar panels.
However, high equipment costs remain a limiting factor. Half of the respondents are willing to invest in energy-efficient technologies if prices decrease, while 44% are counting on additional government subsidies.
