Polish priest murdered in his rectory—robbery suspected

A shocking crime has shaken the town of Kłobuck. Father Grzegorz Dymek, 59, was found murdered in his rectory, just hours after revealing the total donations from last year’s Christmas carol service. Authorities suspect robbery may have been the motive, as the priest had just informed parishioners that nearly PLN 80,000 (€19,200) had been collected.

Around 7:00 p.m., police responded to a call about a disturbance at Our Lady of Fatima parish. When officers arrived, they discovered Father Dymek’s lifeless body in the basement. Early reports suggest that he was ambushed after driving into the rectory garage, overpowered, tied up, and murdered.

Forensic investigators immediately began combing the scene for evidence, while authorities worked to determine exactly what happened in the priest’s final moments.

A 52-year-old local man has been taken into custody in connection with the killing. However, investigators have remained tight-lipped about his exact involvement.

“The case is under intensive investigation,” said police spokesperson Joanna Wiącek-Głowacz, confirming that officers are working closely with prosecutors to piece together the details.

As the community reels from this horrific act, more details are expected to emerge in the coming days.
