U.S. Secretary of State Mark Rubio, National Security Advisor Mike Walts, and U.S. Special Envoy for the Middle East Steve Whitcoff will hold a critical meeting with a Russian delegation on Tuesday in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia’s capital.
This was reported by a journalist from The Washington Post, citing a statement from U.S. State Department spokesperson Tammy Bruce.
According to Bruce, during the meeting, U.S. officials will discuss issues related to international security, as well as bilateral relations between the U.S. and Russia. The State Department confirmed that the Russian delegation, which includes key representatives of the country’s foreign policy, will also take part in the talks.
Russian President Press Secretary Dmitry Peskov earlier stated that Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and Russian Presidential Aide Yuri Ushakov are traveling to Riyadh on President Vladimir Putin’s orders to hold negotiations with U.S. representatives. These talks are expected to cover global security issues, as well as potential cooperation between the two countries on various international initiatives.
This meeting takes place against the backdrop of escalating geopolitical challenges, including crises in the Middle East and other international issues.
