Former U.S. President Donald Trump stated that his meeting with Russian leader Vladimir Putin could take place “very soon.”
According to Reuters, when asked about Putin’s intentions regarding Ukraine, Trump suggested that he seeks to end the war.
I think he wants to stop the fighting. They have a powerful military machine, but as far as I understand, he would like to stop the war, Trump said.
Speaking about the possible timing of negotiations with Putin, Trump noted that there is no exact date yet, but the meeting could happen “very soon.”
He emphasized that he is making every effort to achieve peace and expressed confidence that both Putin and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky are interested in ending the war.
According to sources, high-ranking officials from the U.S. and Russia will meet next week in Saudi Arabia, which could serve as a preparatory stage for a potential Trump-Putin summit by the end of the month.
U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio confirmed that he would also visit Saudi Arabia. The meeting is expected to be attended by U.S. Special Envoy for the Middle East Steve Witkoff and National Security Advisor Mike Waltz.
