Polish prosecutors have formally charged five foreign nationals with the gang rape of a 20-year-old student inside a moving car near Warsaw last July. A sixth suspect faces charges for assisting in the crime.
The District Prosecutor’s Office in Pruszków filed the indictment, confirming the attack occurred on July 28, 2024, along the Warsaw-Janki route. According to spokesperson Piotr Antoni Skiba, all suspects are Latin American nationals, legally residing in Poland, employed, and aged between 20 and 30. If convicted, they could face up to 20 years in prison.
The young woman had been out at a Warsaw nightclub that night when she met a man who introduced himself as Spanish. Later, outside the club, she accepted his offer for a ride home—only to find six men inside the car. Somewhere along the journey, she lost consciousness and later woke up in Janki, just outside Warsaw, disoriented and in distress.
A bus driver found her at a stop, where she recounted the harrowing assault before being taken to a hospital. Initial testimonies suggest that when she briefly regained consciousness in the car, she was surrounded by four men, all foreigners, who groped and assaulted her. At one point, when one suspect stepped out of the car, she seized the moment—striking another man before escaping.
Authorities pieced together evidence using nightclub surveillance footage, toxicology tests, and DNA analysis, ultimately leading to the indictments. The case now moves forward in court, where the suspects face severe legal consequences if found guilty.
