Trump plans to strike a deal with China on trade and nuclear security

Trump is seeking to reach a major agreement with China on trade and nuclear weapons security, according to The New York Times.

According to information provided by U.S. presidential advisors, Donald Trump is interested in a deal that would include significant Chinese investments and commitments to purchase more American goods. Despite a similar agreement signed in 2020, China has not been able to purchase an additional $200 billion in goods and services.

China is considered “one of the biggest threats to U.S. national security,” but remains an important trade partner and a key player in many areas, including nuclear security, technology, and pandemic preparedness, the publication notes.

The NYT predicts that the negotiations for this deal will be challenging.
