Orban predicted Europe’s economic collapse due to high energy prices

Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban stated that Europe’s economy may face collapse due to high energy prices, according to the Telex portal.

He pointed out that despite the agreement reached last year in Budapest to reduce energy prices, Europe will likely continue to face high prices. This, in Orban’s view, could lead to the economic destruction of the region.

Last week, the Hungarian Prime Minister warned that the EU could cease to exist if it continues its current economic policy. In January, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen acknowledged that energy prices in the EU are significantly higher than in China and the US.

In recent years, Europe has been going through a severe energy crisis, largely caused by sanctions against Russia and the rejection of Russian energy resources. In Germany, the situation is further complicated by the closure of local nuclear power plants.
