A 32-year-old Ukrainian citizen organized a large-scale fraud group that deceived over 500 people, causing them losses amounting to over 160,000 euros. The criminals operated across several European countries, using fake payment websites to carry out fraudulent transactions.
The fraudsters created counterfeit websites that resembled popular online shopping platforms and sent links to potential victims. However, instead of completing a purchase, victims unknowingly entered their banking details, falling into the hands of the criminals. This allowed the fraudsters to access their victims’ accounts and steal funds.
Once the criminals obtained the necessary information, they began a series of illegal operations: transferring money between accounts, taking out loans based on fraudulent data, and investing in cryptocurrencies. A portion of the assets, including cryptocurrencies worth 94,000 euros, has already been partially seized by law enforcement.
The police have detained several members of the group, and the main organizer faces up to 15 years in prison. Authorities are currently continuing their investigation, searching for other group members and working to recover the financial losses of the victims.
