American entrepreneur and head of the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), Elon Musk, announced that all U.S. federal employees will be required to submit weekly reports on their work.
Failure to comply will be considered a voluntary resignation, Musk wrote on social media platform X
At the direction of President Donald Trump, all federal employees will soon receive an email requesting them to report on their work over the past week. Failure to meet this requirement will be treated as a resignation, he stated.
Later, Musk noted that many government employees had already submitted “high-quality” reports, emphasizing that these individuals should be considered for career advancement.
Earlier, he mentioned that the Trump administration was implementing large-scale reductions in the federal workforce, aiming to transition employees into the private sector. The New York Times also reported that the U.S. Office of Personnel Management (OPM) had instructed federal agencies to dismiss a significant portion of employees still on probationary status.
It is worth noting that Trump previously appointed Musk and entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy as leaders of DOGE—a department established to reduce wasteful spending and restructure federal agencies. Ramaswamy later announced his resignation from the position.
