Zelensky is ready to step down as president for the sake of peace

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky stated that he is willing to leave his position if it would help bring peace to the country. He made this statement during a press conference.

When asked whether he would step down for peace, Zelensky replied that he would agree to do so if it was in Ukraine’s best interest.

If it brings peace to Ukraine, and if it is necessary for me to leave my post – I am ready. I am also ready to exchange my position for NATO membership. I am not planning to stay in power for decades, he said.

The president emphasized that it is important to understand that it is Ukraine, not anyone else, inviting European leaders to the negotiations, as the war continues on Ukrainian soil.

Zelensky also commented on recent statements by Donald Trump, claiming that only 4% of Ukrainians support him. He noted that his actual approval rating is 65%, stressing the significant difference between the real figures and the reported ones.

Earlier, Zelensky referred to a survey by KMS, which showed his rating at 57%. However, in the latest survey by the “Rating” group, his approval had risen to 65%.

At the same time, the British magazine The Economist claimed that Zelensky’s popularity in Ukraine is declining and that he could lose to the former commander-in-chief of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, Valerii Zaluzhnyi, in the elections. According to a survey by the Ukrainian company Socis, fewer than 16% of respondents would vote for Zelensky, while Zaluzhnyi would receive 27.2% of the vote.
