This morning, two Molotov cocktails were thrown into the garden of the Russian Consulate in Marseille. According to Valeurs Actuelles, the incident occurred near the consulate, and a stolen car was found nearby.
The police have launched an investigation, and there are no reported casualties. Later, an explosion occurred within the consulate’s premises. In response to the threat, measures were taken to neutralize a suspicious device. Around 30 firefighters and rescuers are working in the area.
The Russian Consul General in Marseille, Stanislav Oranski, confirmed that the explosion took place inside the consulate but clarified that no one was harmed.
The operation to neutralize the device continues, and local authorities are conducting an investigation. There are also concerns that such violent acts could be linked to attempts to disrupt negotiations on resolving the conflict in Ukraine.
