Slovak nationalist leader calls for Ukraine to repay 3.5 billion euros in aid

Andrej Danko, the leader of the Slovak National Party, is demanding that Ukraine return the 3.5 billion euros in assistance provided by previous Slovak governments.

Danko’s remarks came after news broke that the United States is nearing an agreement with Ukraine to secure access to Ukrainian mineral resources. According to former President Trump, this deal would allow the U.S. to recover funds it has invested in Ukraine during its resistance against Russian aggression over the past three years.

“How will Zelensky return the three and a half billion euros we sent there? For us, 3.5 billion euros is a huge amount,” Danko said in a video statement.

“If the Germans, along with the French and Americans, demand their money back, Slovakia cannot remain silent,” he added, emphasizing the gravity of the situation. The Slovak National Party, which Danko heads, is part of the country’s governing coalition.

Danko also suggested that the ongoing conflict is revealing the true dynamics of the war. “The Russians will stay where they are. Ukraine used this conflict to receive financial aid, which they often embezzled,” he claimed. The nationalist leader expressed confidence that the fighting would soon end. “Let’s see if Zelensky will betray Europe and give the minerals to Trump, because then he will be lying to the European Union,” Danko said.
