British woman used wigs to take citizenship test instead of foreigners

61-year-old British citizen Josephine Morris admitted to impersonating others more than ten times to fraudulently take the UK citizenship test on their behalf.

According to The Independent, the UK Home Office stated that the woman used “multiple wigs” and other disguises to pose as different foreign nationals—both men and women.

At a court hearing in the London district of Snaresbrook, Morris, who is currently in custody, appeared via video link. She confessed that between June 1, 2022, and August 14, 2023, she had impersonated 13 different individuals to take the test on their behalf.

Additionally, she admitted to conspiring with others to commit fraud and unlawfully obtaining temporary driving licenses for two foreign nationals in January 2025.

The Life in the UK test is a mandatory requirement for obtaining indefinite leave to remain or British citizenship. It consists of 24 questions assessing knowledge of British history, values, and society.

Morris is scheduled to be sentenced on May 20.
