Romanian right-wing politician Călin Georgescu spent about five hours being interrogated at the prosecutor’s office before being released under judicial supervision with a travel ban.
According to Digi24, the former independent presidential candidate is now under a 60-day judicial oversight. Upon leaving the prosecutor’s office, he was met by several hundred supporters, as well as representatives of the right-wing “Alliance for the Union of Romanians” and the “Youth Party.”
On the morning of February 26, Georgescu was detained as part of a criminal case related to the financing of his election campaign. He is accused of inciting actions against the constitutional order, spreading false information, and providing knowingly false testimony.
