Elon Musk criticized the arrest of Romanian presidential candidate Călin Georgeșcu, calling it “terrible.”
Musk, a supporter of Donald Trump, expressed his outrage on social media platform X, emphasizing that Georgeșcu, who received the most votes in the election, was arrested. He wrote:
They just arrested the person who got the most votes in the presidential election in Romania. This is just terrible.
Georgeșcu won the first round of the election, but was later stripped of his victory. U.S. Vice President JD Vance already commented at the Munich Security Conference, stating that the cancellation of the election results in Romania is an example of a violation of rights and freedoms within the European Union.
Today, it was reported that Georgeșcu had been arrested and taken to the prosecutor’s office for questioning regarding a possible illegal funding of his campaign in the fall of 2024. According to Mediafax, the politician has become a suspect in the case. It was also reported that he was stopped by the police while heading to submit his documents for re-registration as a presidential candidate.
