Nearly 40% of Poles view President Andrzej Duda’s visit to the United States as a diplomatic misstep.
According to the latest survey conducted by SW Research for the Rzeczpospolita newspaper, 38.8% of respondents consider the meeting with Donald Trump a failure. The visit, which took place on February 22 near Washington, lasted only about 10 minutes, according to sources. Duda waited for Trump for several dozen minutes and later stated that the U.S. president reassured him that Poland is one of America’s most reliable allies.
The survey also showed that 19.9% of respondents consider the meeting a success, 32.7% were unsure, and 8.6% claimed they had not heard about the visit.
After the meeting with Trump, Duda stated that without U.S. support, Ukraine would not survive the war and added that “somehow this war needs to be ended.” At the same time, his visit faced criticism within the ruling coalition, where some politicians suggested that Trump had shown disdain for the Polish leader.
