Norwegian authorities fined a foreign tourist nearly €800 and deported him with a five-year entry ban for reckless driving.
According to NRK, the offender was a Chinese citizen traveling through the Lofoten Islands. He was fined 9,000 Norwegian kroner (approximately €800) and expelled from the country after repeatedly creating dangerous situations on the road.
The incident occurred during the New Year holidays, but the authorities’ decision was only recently made public. Police reports indicate that the driver was making erratic lane changes, frequently driving in the middle of the road or into oncoming traffic. His actions forced other vehicles, including heavy trucks, to come to a sudden stop to avoid collisions.
When apprehended, the man was found to be sober, in good health, and seemingly unaware of the danger he had posed. As a result, his driving privileges in Norway were revoked, he was fined, and authorities issued a five-year ban on his re-entry into the country.
