DOGE has infiltrated 20 U.S. government agencies

The team of American entrepreneur Elon Musk and his Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) has infiltrated more than 20 federal agencies in the United States, including personnel and financial structures of the government, reports The New York Times.

The newspaper notes that Musk has embedded his engineers and aides into the country’s key digital infrastructure, allowing DOGE to take control of crucial management systems. According to NYT, Musk’s strategy is based on two main directions:

Control over the personnel system (OPM) – The DOGE team uses electronic platforms to exert pressure on government employees and conduct mass layoffs. Infiltration of IT infrastructure – DOGE has gained access to systems tracking government financial flows.

As part of these actions, DOGE employees have requested access to restricted databases, including internal resources of the Social Security Administration (SSA) and the Internal Revenue Service (IRS).

Many officials interacting with DOGE express concerns about political risks and the unpredictability of the decisions being made. Meanwhile, courts are struggling to keep up with the changes: even if DOGE faces legal restrictions in the future, the measures already implemented may prove irreversible.
