Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán voiced his support for U.S. President Donald Trump following a tense exchange between Trump and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky at the White House on Friday.
Orbán was among the few European leaders to publicly back Trump after the dispute. Posting on social media platform X (formerly Twitter), Orbán emphasized the contrast between strength and weakness in matters of war and peace.
“Strong people build peace, weak people wage war,” he wrote.
“Today, President Donald Trump bravely stood up for peace. Even if it was difficult for many to accept. Thank you, Mr. President!” Orbán added.
It was reported that Zelensky left the White House earlier than expected following the confrontation with Trump and Vice President J.D. Vance.
Reacting to the incident, Trump later remarked that Zelensky had “disrespected” the United States and stated that the Ukrainian leader “is not ready for peace.”
