The United States has secured the extradition of 29 drug cartel members from Mexico, including Rafael Caro Quintero, who is accused of kidnapping, torturing, and murdering Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) agent Enrique Camarena in 1985. This was reported by the White House press office.
President Trump directed the Department of Justice and the State Department to achieve this extradition, and Attorney General Pam Bondi, together with Secretary of State Marco Rubio, did an excellent job, according to a statement from the US administration.
The White House also pointed out that under President Joe Biden’s administration, these criminals had been able to evade justice. In contrast, the Trump administration classified the largest Latin American drug cartels as terrorist organizations, with the goal of punishing their members.
According to the White House, the extradited individuals are involved in international drug trafficking, murders, and other crimes. They are expected to face trial in the US shortly.
