British Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer announced that the UK and France will take the lead in drafting a ceasefire plan for Ukraine, which will later be presented to U.S. President Donald Trump.
The initiative follows Starmer’s recent diplomatic calls with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, Trump, and French President Emmanuel Macron. Tensions between Zelensky and Trump escalated after a contentious meeting in the Oval Office on Friday.
Speaking to the BBC ahead of a key international summit on Ukraine, Starmer indicated that “possibly a few others” might also take part in shaping the ceasefire proposal.
