A recent survey in the Czech Republic reveals a significant shortage of skilled workers, with 87% of respondents expressing concerns about the impact on pricing and longer wait times for services.
The Ipsos survey, conducted for GasNet and involving 1,050 participants, shows that most Czechs can handle basic home repairs themselves, but rely on specialists for more complex tasks.
Around 80% of respondents are capable of performing basic DIY tasks such as assembling furniture, painting walls, clearing blockages, or drilling. However, when it comes to more technically demanding work, such as repairing electrical or gas equipment, 81% prefer to hire a professional. Only 6% of people manage without any skilled help at all.
Electrical and gas equipment repairs were frequently mentioned as the most complex types of repair, with 19% of respondents handling electrical appliance repairs and 9% dealing with gas equipment installation. The survey highlights how the lack of skilled workers is prompting Czechs to take on simpler tasks themselves while turning to experts for more specialized work.
