WWII bomb disrupts rail traffic at Paris’ Gare du Nord

Rail traffic around Gare du Nord in Paris came to a halt after an unexploded World War II bomb was discovered near the tracks.

On the morning of March 7, an unexploded WWII bomb was found near the tracks in the area of Gare du Nord. As a result, train traffic in this direction was suspended, causing significant delays and cancellations.

Service on the RER B suburban train line was also halted between the suburb of Saint-Denis and Gare du Nord. Authorities estimate that operations will resume around 9 AM local time.

In recent months, similar incidents have occurred in other European cities. In the historic center of Dresden, Germany, two WWII bombs were discovered near a collapsed bridge undergoing demolition, prompting a large-scale evacuation.

In November, the French city of Annecy saw the evacuation of around 4,000 people due to the discovery of a 230-kilogram bomb.
